co45co's fishroom build

Alright, so I haven't had too much time to work on the room, but the room is 100% primed and 98% painted, all that is left is to paint the "doors" and the corners where the roller brush couldn't get. Hopefully by next weekend I will be installing the electrical as well start building the stand for water storage tanks and the quarantine/hospital tanks. So here is the room as of tonight:

PS: sorry if the pictures are a little blurry, my hands are shaky and tired.

@fredg89- thank you

@Aquafred- thank you and me neither

@Tradewinds- Yes that was the goal, I didn't want it to be so dark and dull, the paint will also help with keeping in moisture

@small alien- When I went looking for paint (months ago) there was some reason (of which I can't remember) why I didn't get high gloss... It may have been the price difference or that I didn't want the glossy look or they didn't have any in the "ultra" pure white.... whatever the reason may have been its all good, the camera doesn't do the paint justice really. I'll try maybe tonight to get a good picture with the proper white balance.

@vel123- thank you

Looks good. If you do the tank and the doors right, the parents will probably allow you to move the tank into a living area. It would be sweet to punch a hole in the floor, and run your pipes up through the floor and have a fish room in the basement.

Good luck

@dogstar74- It would be cool to have a tank upstairs, but I don't plan on doing so. I'll be moving out in 3 to 6 years, so for right now this is enough for me.

So after almost a month I still have little to update with. Been really busy with work and school and have had very little time to do stuff, but I have finally managed to hook up the RO/DI system and water storage (though the salt mixing pump isn't quite finished). And I moved my 125 freshwater tank as well. So here are some photos:

Pardon the mess on the table... still have to do a loop for mixing salt, which by the way under the table. I'm going to use up the rest of the oceanic salt that I have and then add in Red Sea coral pro that I have. Only have about 420 gallons worth and I'll need about 350 to start off with, for all the systems.

If you look real hard you can see a few fish at the bottom, there actually is a blacklight on so that is why they are glowing somewhat. I only moved the fish, no plants or rocks or decorations.

Started filling QT tank and this happened:

Look for the white cloud spots to the right of the left inside blue line (if that makes sense)

I had previously leak tested the tank outside and this didn't happen, the tank was equally supported underneath by half inch plywood and 2x4's underneath that. The spots look like tiny micro cracks. Any guesses as to what happened? I think I'll just rip it apart and cut it up for baffles. Sucks that this happened, but I must focus on the silver lining that there was no fish in it and it didn't crack all the way through.
