Is it worth the time to use one of these with a refugium? Does anybody use one?

Lots of people use them. They take a couple months to get "working". I have also read you can kick start them with some cheapo vodka. check out this thread for an easy to do DIY one. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=9561031#post9561031 page 27 in the middle

I'm not sure that's quite true. I think you'll find more of them in people's "old equipment" piles than actually in use. I tried two of them. Had to constantly adjust them in an attempt to get a stable drip rate. Finally threw them away.
