ColdWater Reef

Looks like Scuplin eggs to me!

So awesome. Mike @ Micro-Reefs is testing my tank design over the weekend to ensure it will maintain 55degrees in an 80degree room with just a single IceProbe. If it does then he's going to build me 12x7x8 3g out of 3/8 acrylic, if not then I'm going to settle for a 2g or 2.2g. Should be a pretty cheap setup - the only thing I'm concerned about is if it's enough room for the Pygmy White Spotted Filefish I want to stock.

Very cool! The only concern I had with 3/8 acrylic was condensation in Arizona summer.

The Pygmy Filefish was a fish I wanted to get too, unfortunately it eats invertebrate =/

I noticed their diet when I was looking at them - I'll probably have to work out something like regular shipments from CWMA.

Speaking of feeding, I noticed that CWMA has cultures of Tigriopus californicus for sale here. Seeding your tank with one or two should get a sufficient pod population to keep your Sculpin fed :)

Yup I got some of those pods to seed the tank, still see some of em running around.

If you do get regular shipment, I might join in also. I want to keep some colorful nudibranch that feeds on certain anemones

Hey Anthony! Tank is great! I might have to come back to you guys to get the lid cut though. Forgot I have wires running out of tank, so need a bit of room on the lid

Discovered these tonight... I think it might be the Sculpin eggs. That or the Periwinkles

Absolutely, bring it by, we'll take care of you, no charge.

Too bad the egg gonna be just anemone food =/

My plumose anemone sprouted a baby already hah, and 2 others are looking to do the same

If those white plumose keep doing well for you, I will send you down some orange ones next time I find them :)

Awesome! I'm really digging the ones from Jim's pico

Can't wait to see what you send me this week!

Bacteria bloom seem to die down a bit, I did leave the light off yesterday so that might be why. Looking forward to really stock the tank up when I get back!

Mike @ Micro-Reefs is already tempting me with a 4g setup instead of 2 or 3g. It would use two iceprobes in an ac70. More testing early this week and then I should know exactly what I'm ordering.

Going to take a while to cycle though, so I'll live vicariously through you until then. I am looking at substrate options - I know Ocean Bottom has a lot of different rocks, thinking I'll try something iwagumi. Have any recommendations for a black substrate?

You should definitely go as big as you can!

Unfortunately, I will be leaving next week so I won't be updating . My tank is still in the cycling phase, gotta test water again but everything seem to be fine.

I'm so tempted to buy a bright blue porcelain crab from CWMA, but it would probably won't be fed correctly while I'm done =/.

This is Josh from C.M.A. on Stu's account, I have four or five in my personal 50gal at home and they eat mysis as well as smaller food so I wouldn't worry to much, hope this helps!:D

Shoot, I'll grab some next time!

Well good news is, the bacteria bloom in the tank is gone and everything looking good and eating!

Probably gonna get a small foot print skimmer when I get back, something like this

Those mame ones are super slim and really nice (but crazy expensive for an airstone skimmer); gnome skimmers are another option. I just ordered a PicOAquarium's PicO Skim for a 37g tropical, probably a bit oversized for your tank though.

How some new critters today =D

Unfortunately my Green Sculpin passed away before I left for France, he just refused to eat anything and eventually died =(

Looking to order some more from CWMA soon!
