ColdWater Reef

Looking great! I love the colors on catalinas.

Just wanted to let you know I got an airstone glass protein skimmer for my 37.5g tropical reef tank from gnome glass. The guy that runs it (Calen) hooked me up with a special 52mm size for such a big tank. I love it, pulls constant dark tea, adds no heat, takes almost no space. Only complaint is having to run a pump for the airstone - but either it's getting quieter or I'm getting more used to it because it doesn't bother me 4 days in.

any picture of it? I'm planning on getting the glass protein skimmer for the tank too

Sure, here are a few. And I'm cleaning the collection chamber right now, so a picture of the skimmate (4 days running)

Remember, this is a very oversized version. I told him to aim for something that could keep up with an overstocked and overfed 40g.

Ignore the brown-jelly infected torch corals that I no longer own ( :headwalls: )

Here's a high-res shot of the whole tank (click the thumb at the page to see full-res): http://imgur.com/Nm8g6qo

Delicious Green Tea or horrible filthy skimmate? Frankly, the live phyto-feast I feed to the tank daily smells worse.

is that shrimp one of the spiny lebbeids? what is that new anemone on your overflow box?

You are correct! It's a Spiny Lebbeids, I ordered a Sitka shrimp... but Stu was nice enough to send me that thing instead :spin1:

My only concern now if it will try to eat my catalina lol, the anemone is a Painted Anemone

if only one of us had a large coldwater tank right now. A tiny local fish store near me has (or had earlier this week) a Garibaldi for sale. They don't have it in a temperate tank. I know it protected in California, but don't know about elsewhere. It was about 6" long.
