Collonista snails with hermits?

I have large numbers of collonista snails in one aquarium (the main display) of a 3 tank and one sump setup. There are virtually no snails in the Frag tank of the same set up. I thought this was because somehow the snails got established in one tank and had not migrated to the other. But I have been for weeks taking 50+ snails each evening and transfering them to the tank lacking snails but they don't seem to be establishing themselves. Could be I am being impatient, but one thing that is different between the two tanks is that the main display has virtually no (perhaps zero) hermit crabs. Might have one or two lerking around, while the other tank has > dozen. Both tanks are ~60 gal.
I am wondering if the hermits (mix of red leg and blue leg) hermits ranging in size from using 1/2 inch cerith shells to >1 incj astra and turbo shells are the culprits and are just eating up the collonista snails faster than I can add them.

If you have collonista snails, do you have hermits? If you do have both, did you add the hermits after the collonistas were established or before?

I really like these snails. They keep my main display crisp and clean with little established algae, while the tank lacking collonistas has a significant algae issue.

Thanks in advance for the comments on these snails.

Its very..very...very common for hermit crabs to go after snails..

If you want to maintain a healthy population of snails then get rid of all hermits..

I’ve never seen hermits go after collonistas, and I had both from the beginning. They have gone after astrea snails like crazy though. I’ve had both hermits and a booming collonista population for a good 3 years now.

One caveat, though, is that my hermits are generally well fed. Things would probably change if they got hungry enough.
