hello. i just started a saltwater tank. it's still in the process of cycling. i have a Columbian Shark which from my old african cichlid tank which i manage to acclimate to saltwater (which prior to doing it, i did a little research about it). i put the fish for the reason of cycling the current tank and i kinda like the little guy. my plan for the tank in the future is a reef tank and i'm curious if having the columbian shark with corals and other reef creatures is safe. i now currently have a couple of chromis with the shark. should i get rid of the Columbian Shark? (which i find a bit off for a reef tank). any input would be helpful. thanks. :)

You might want to try the reef fish forum , but catfish tend to be aggressive and will eat smaller fish .

I use to have one back in my FW days in a cichlid tank as well. If you have small fish or want small fish in your tank I would not add the C. Shark. Mine was very good at hunting down fish at night.

They don't stay little and cute. Those catfish can, and will, get up around a foot or so in size and eat anything that fits in their mouth. Won't hurt the coral, but any fish and shrimp smaller than them will be dinner.
