Color shift after fragging?

About a month or so ago, I made a trip to TFP and picked up a Jason Fox "Purple Superman Monti". It had over grown its plug and was obviously encrusting something, so I fragged a couple pieces from it and they appear to shifted colors to what a Purple Superman is suppose to be (very similar to Superman Monti). But the parent piece has stayed the same dark red that it was when I first got it.

The parent colony as well as the frags are getting the same light, so my question is, why is this happening?

The stress due to fragging will change the color in the frag. As it recovers and starts growing again it will fully regain color. This is normal with SPS. The most vibrant color SPS will be established colonies.
