ok i just got a 12 gallon nano-cube i came with 2-50/50 lights but i know for macro and seagrass and such it needs to be whiter , so what would be the best like one 6500k and a 50/50 i know they probably wont benifit from the 50/50 except maybe some of the 10k but i wouldnt be able to stand the white lights of all 6500k so let me know what you would do

also is seagrass able to be kept under pc's? it would be 2x36 watts

They dont seem to get much out of the actinic part of the 50/50 bulbs. Two 10,000K lights would work out very nicely, and are much bluer in comparison to 6500K. That's the compromise I would do, and the one I actually use. If you still hate it, go 10,000K and a 50/50.

For a nanocube, I think this amount of light will work for Halodule, Halophila and most of the macroalgae I can think of. Keep us updated, we love tank photos! :)

ok so 2 10,000k would be better that one 6,500k and 1/2 10,000 and 1/2 actinic? if so i will do that i guess and sea grass likes deep sand right cause it will have about 3-4 inches is that enough?> thanks for all your responses

3-4 inches for the two genera I proposed, Halodule and Halophila, will be just fine. :) I dont observe a huge difference in growth rates between grasses that are under 6500K and 10,000K. There are perhaps differences in PAR, but they arent known to me.

My thinking is that two 10,000K bulbs may be blue enough for your tastes that you will not need a 50/50 bulb and will thus have more light on the grasses that they can use (since actinic isnt too helpful from what I see). A 6500K and a 50/50 combination may not be blue enough, which is why I wouldnt go that way myself. :)

ok i get your thinking now i suppose i will do the 2x10000k first to test it out and i will always have my 2 5050 bulbs as a back up so are there any good fish for a 12 gallon that looks natural in that habitat?

There are a ton of super cute little gobies that are native to these habitats, as well as cardinal fish, clownfish in the Pacific regions. Pistol shrimp are native also, but can get an urge to mow down the grass. So if you add them, do it once the grass is well established.

ok nevermind i took the hood off so now im using my powerquad it hangs over but im assuming its still mroe light but now i dont have the option of lighting colors as much so should i go all 10k?

ok so if i have a 5050 bulb on my 96 watt quad and a 24 watt(maybe 36 watt im not sure) 6,500k bulb will that do for macro's and grass even if its not the best for growth??
