Slave to the reef!
Im going to be going to a wedding in Indiana in a cpl weeks and on the way home we are planning on stopping by the Shedd. I would also like to hit up some nice saltwater shops while in town. Im mainly looking for SPS but i maybe picking up a few fish as well. Can you guys reccomend some good shops so i dont have to waste time driving around going to hole in the wall shops with mollies and bettas.

;)

TIA

From Iowa? I'd say if you can get up to I-88 to hit Rod's Reef rods-reef.com on the way back home.

In the city it's slim pickins, especially now that Menard aka Reef Dweller is no longer in biz. I'm told there's a good shop in Indiana somewhere just over the border. PM or email RC id name BOTR. He told me about the joint I just don't know the name or details.

How far from The Loop are you willing to venture?

I'de go an hour or so if its worth it....you dont know slim pickin's till you come here, its pathetic. Thank god for the local reef club.

So, yeah, rods-reef.com which is in DeKalb off of I-88.

Deep Reef Aquatics in Downer's Grove off I-355, not far from I-88, but their corals are nothing to write home about. Fantastic fish.

Ocean's Floor which is in Lake in the God-Forsaken Hills www.oceansfloor.net or else look at the sticky in the CMAS forum for their details.

Make an appt to stop by Sharky's Reef, it's by appt only, out of their home. Good place I'm told.

Others will chime in with their own preferences. There'll be disagreement on this as on everyhting but you can't miss with the ones I've suggested here... all great quality stuff, great people.

If you go to the Darklord page there is no links only an email. What gives? Where's some pics of the amazing stuff?
Have you been there in person? What are their prices like?
I could email them myself but wanted some consumer feed back.

Yes, I have bought quite a few pieces from them. Right now they are only taking local customers until they finish their expansion. Since this thread is about visiting Chicago that's why it was posted... ;)

There are quite a few posts around about them, just take a look.
