Commercial tank build...

Interesting material to use for building a tank. The fact its all white should be quite nice for light reflection within the tank

That material is really cool. I have always been worried about using cause its 50% air %05 solid.. Can you explain your gluing process again? Weldon 3 into the space followed by pvc and then screw it together? Did you protect the surface with anything. Thanks and good luck with everything. Love the lights btw

Thanks for the kind word every one..first I drilled all the screws thill the was a minor gap between the boards. Then I used squirted the weld on with the an applicator, then quickly finished tightening the screws. Then I had the fall out that was left over from the boards cut in to 1x1x10 pieces and used that as an extra seal, I glued these with PVC cement and laced more glue on top.just to be sure.

So I added 30g of water and acouple pieces of LR from my DT when I set the first tank up to seed the dry rock and help speed the cycle. And wow the tank cycled for 10 days. I ran test and everything has been coming back good. So I think it's ready to rock..

Also threw some more LR in the other 2 to help with the cycle so let's see how long these take..

And as far as the lights they should be getting shipped out within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully

sounds like your making good progress. What are the plans for the filtration for each system? Are you running all the same setups or do you plan on mixing filtration options to see what works best? I have great success growing SPS with only a algae turf scrubber but of course there are fish in my tank since it's my display.

Has anyone else built tanks out PVC foam board with long term results? I really like the idea of using this material but I am told by my plastics dealer that because foam board is so porous that it will absorb water.

Yes the PVC foam board is 50% air 50% PVC, PVC board is solid PVC it's heavier and quite a bit more expensive. The OP stated that he used the foam board.

So....did you use PVC Foam Board or PVC sheeting? Big difference I think. Tanks look great but if they are really the PVC Foam Board, that could be a problem. Isn't the foam board made for non load bearing construction?

wow really nice build! I have heard a lot of good things about your business and I have many friends that have purchased corals from you. nice setup and wish you the best!

Sorry I have been away for a while guys. I have been busy with business and with our new baby girl. Things have been rolling slowly but surely. All three tanks are cycled and doing great. Only 1 has been setup with t5 and is being used as a sps grow out tank. Other tanks should have lights within the next two weeks or so. But still along way befor they are filled. Will post more pics soon
