Compatability?

Yes... The proper order would be to get both at the same time and put them thru QT together and introduce them in the DT at the same time too. Flames can get aggressive once established so together

Cool... Thanks.

I noticed your location. Grew up not far from there, but haven't been back in a while. Did a decent LFS ever open in the area?

Your not missing much... Yes and no on the LFS. My good friend owns a store 1 mile from my house and when he orders from Quality Marine I'm all over it( I get fish at 15-20% over whole sale) he is a smaller operation and carries more coral than fish usually. I'm much more of a fish person than a coral guy

I owned an LFS here in the mid 90's. I ordered from Quality Marine then. I wish I could find someone to order from them for me. I'm restocking my 75 after moving some small fish to another tank. I was planning on using Liveaquaria and the like. I even set up a 30 gallon QT so I could order a few fish at a time to save shipping costs. I do know the owners of the local LFS. I think I'll ask if they order from Quality Marine.

QM has by far the largest selection of fish and sizes available on any give day. I have ordered from LA many times and QM and all fish are extremely healthy from both places. When you see the whole sale prices on fish and then see "retail" prices, it's a difficult adjustment until you take into account shipping (since no matter if you order 600$ Or 6000$ worth of fish from QM you still pay shipping and you also eat 5% of your order total in loses(unless they are DOA).even with that I will order from them any chance I get. Oh I almost forgot the other not so great thing is that since QM stock lists changes and changes drastically from day to day you may order a fish that is "in stock" but sells out before they pack your order and then doesn't get sent in the rest of the order. But I guess that's what happens at a place that can house 750 yellow tangs at once, just yellow tangs... That's crazy

Like I said, I used to own an LFS. The mark-up then was crazy... 400% (including freight) plus a premium for better fish was my standard and I couldn't keep fish in the store. Looking at the current retail prices for fish, and considering wholesale inflation since the mid 90's, I can't imagine your LFS can mark up fish that much. I don't have any trouble paying today's retail for GOOD fish. Unfortunately, good fish are hard to come by around here.

I couldn't agree with you more. I will pay thru the nose for good healthy fish but thus far QM hasn't let me down so if it isn't broke don't fix it kind of thing is my attitude
