Alvin, I'm talking about a disconnected keyboard.

You can also try to reboot your system and while rebooting press F8. Then go to safe mode.

A disconnected keyboard wouldn't beep, it'll either give you an error message during post boot up that there were no keyboards found or continue to boot ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ pending how the BIOS is configured. Keyboard beeping ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ hmmmm, maybe ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ not likely but, Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve seen a lot of BIOS configuration and have not heard of beeping ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ but maybe. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s not a MAC, at lease it has not been brought up.

Psionicdragon, what I would do in your case ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ up plug all PCI card(s), Un-plug the drives (SATA or IDE), CD-ROMââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s, FANS (except the cpu fan), and what have you from your motherboard (take notes on how they were plugged in). So, youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢re pretty much just booting your PC with the video card and the memory attached to the motherboard.

As bladze said about the memory...
BTW, do you have one stick of memory chip or two? If two, are they of the same type, memory size, and speed ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ I would check that too?

In all reality, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s only 3 months old ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ I would take it back to the place where I bought it and explain to them whatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s happening to the PC.

I forget, does it actually boot to the OS or does it continuously tryââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s to boot up?

As Perry said, try to boot to safe mode and check what's booting up at the Windows start up or in the registry start up.

Are you overclocking a gamer box? Reset your bios parameters, mem timings, etc to conservative values and see if the system still reboots.

This could also very well be the case. I used to over clock my computer and the only way to tell when to stop is test the freg and clock speed one by one. When the computer boots up and reboots itself, it's time to reset bios and set it to the highest setting the works. :D

WHat processor are you using? Loud CPU fans can only mean our gigantic P4 fans either that or you have the variable speed fans. :)

hopefully this would help you with the beebs :)

and I think half of them are asian.

If you can wait till the next bar meeting and decide to bring your PC, you can have all the asian IT guys troubleshoot it for you. They'll work for a frag or two.

Sorry couldn't help my self.

The comp is not overclocked. The noise hasn't appear again.

I think I exhausted the comp when I was running my game which requires a lot of memory. Maybe that is why it beep. However, the reason why i am worried is because my last computer was safe and all of a sudden it pooped plus this is new and shouldn't be beeping.

The person that built it has good experience building computers and knows his research.

building a computer isn't as complicated as it seems. Putting a comp together is the most basic thing you learn in the IT/Networking field. Hell reefing is more complicated than putting a computer together.

I'd bet if you'd read for a day or two and learn the components required to put a computer together, you can put one together yourself just by buying all the components and read the manufacture installation manual. They all come with pretty much "Manuals for Dummies" now a days.

Often times, when you have a computer that crap out you can scrap 80% of the parts to use in your new PC. Unless you have an antique 5.25 floppy drive or something LOL usually you'll save quite a bit.

Shhh... don't give away our secret. Work doesn't realize how much they pay me to press the reset switch.

Haha, yah man tell me about it. Even though I no longer work in IT, I still get calls for IT support cause I know work for a small company w/o an IT personel. It annoys the shiet out of me when our network printer is down and I have 14 guys on my back (keep in mind that I don't get paid for IT work) asking about the printer being down. I walk over and reset the printer and it's back online. After about the 3rd time doing this I yell the hell out of them and showed them the reset button. LOL

Amen to that....Just Nuke the whole thing and start fresh install.
I agree with you reefing is way too complicated compares to IT issues...in reefing you cannot just reboot. lol.

Something fun to read on Friday :D

Harold - The Computer Guy
I was having trouble with my computer.
So I called Harold the computer guy, to come over.
Harold clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
He gave me a bill for a minimum service call.
As he was walking away, I called after him,
"So, what was wrong?"
He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired,
"An, ID ten T error?
What's that . in case I need to fix it again?"
Harold grinned.... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"
"No," I replied.
"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."

So I wrote down .

I D 1 0 T
I used to like Harold.

Hahaha... yes and no. I've had to fix enough boxes where people thought they knew what they were doing :) And I'm not even IT, just super geeky anyway :)

Funny one... seeing someone's new box get pwned within 15 seconds of plugging in the network cable :)

I walk over and reset the printer and it's back online.
Here's a funny one... IT set up an HP Laser on network without securing the built in web server. Some bored wiseguy logged in to the printer and reconfigured its IP to the one assigned to the nameserver/gateway :)

Hey, there are a bunch of IT people out there don't know what the hell they're doing. The worse part, they act like they know.
I've seen MCSE guy who doesn't know how to install window. They freak out when the mouse is not working  . They can't click the OK button. I guess they don't know Tab and Enter key on the keyboard would do the job just fine. :)

LOL shhh quit blowing my cover.

You haven't seen scary until you've seen the IT Director press backspace like 20 times to fix a typo he just noticed.

hehehe, I don't expect IT Director/manager to know technical stuff. Look at their title (Director/Manager) .. Leave the technical stuff to the technician :p

Director: "Lackey, help! I made a typo, and my backspace key is all worn out!"

Sr. Net Monkey: "Here's some more whiteout for your screen."

:)
