Condy Anemone how many to many

Well just thought i would ask the question. How many condy's are to many for a 180 gal reef tank. there are 8 damsels, 5 chromis, 1 lawnmower and 2 cardinals. lots of crabs and snails. oh yea lets not forget the clam. as far a coral just a few xenia's some brown zoo's. deep sand bed lots of coraline on rcok and glass. 2 150 watt halides 1 175 watts halide. lots of water flow.

well condis will eat anything they can get ahold of, so i would say maybe 2 or 3 but it all up to you on how many but if going for a species tank I would say 15 to 20 in that size tank is not alot. but remeber they will kill your corals as they due tend to move alot.

Any of those will work if they take them. I fed mine silversides. The more you feed the faster they grow.

I have placed 10 small abt 3inches in this tank. I have always been fascinated with these animals. Up until feb last years i had a 15 inch long tenticle seabae when we had a major ice storm in which i lost everthing in my three tanks. Power outage for 10 days and tank iced up a little. So i have been nursing my tanks all over. Figured i would try this breed of anemone.

The ten i added are doing very well. been 2 weeks now. Feed them a large oyster each two days in a row. boy did they brighten up today. Any suggestions on how often i should feed them. Daily, bi-weekly, or? I will be swapping feedings between raw shrimp, oysters and muscles if i can find. Also will any raw fish do, cant seem to find frozen silversides

I don't know much about condy's, but if they are anything like other nems I've been experienced with, it might be better to chop up the food rather than giving a large chunk. As others said, they tend to move around a bit and have a nasty sting, so everything in your tank *could* be in danger. (though I've seen accounts of others that have a perfectly well-behaved condy).

These that ive recently gotten have stayed pretty much in the same area so far. No fish seem to have come up missing yet. will try to keep them pretty will feed and hope the will behave. as far as there sting ouch on the cuts. been there done that. wonder if the will get rid of some of the bristle worms, that wouldnt hurt my feeling.

looks pretty sweet to me. Just watch powerheads, overflow, corals and any of your fish getting sucked up by them. Other then that you will be find, just keep a eye on your ammonia levels.

Interesting setup. I have RBTAs, mags and flower anemones, but I've always liked the look of condys. I've not tried them because I thought they wandered around. Sounds like you're not having that problem. I know that given time and proper conditions they get large. Hope you keep us posted with occasional pics and reports on their progress.

Ive want to try RBTA's and GBTA's but have been told they dont tolerate changes very well. Dont mind if mine wander a little there really isnt much in the way of corals in my tanks.

As far as Condy Anemone go, IMO, 1 is too many. They're an Atlantic species and do not host Clownfish, naturally. They're just as likely to eat your fish as host them.

Hey there,

I know it is unusual, but my Condy has been hosting my clown since we brought it home a month ago.

My condy's acted funny today. about half of them deflated today i thought may have problem check water everything fine came in this evening there all fine. they just about drove me crazy earlier.
Anyone have that happen?

nems do that all the time thats how they get rid of waste. Your tank is fine having several Condy nems. Just don't add any other nems or corals. You know your fish can be eaten so thats the chance you take. Cheers

Had about 3 condy's before and they always moved around. They drove me crazy. I could never keep them alive. They were not for me. Didn't want any more blood (slime in this case) on my hands. About LTA's and other anemones tolerating changes not very well - you don't want many changes to begin with, nobody tolerates that very well. But I have to admit my water is probably a little more dirty than others, but I think my amenones don't mind, because they are growing and growing...I am having a Magnificent for 10 years now and the LTA for 8 years. I think, LTA or bubbles are easier than condy's. Yours do look pretty and happy, good luck with them.
