condy nem

My boyfriend says he isnt interested in my hobby. But amazingly enough he came over with 2 condi nems yesterday. I really didnt want them but what could I say. His heart is in the right place.

My question is Do they eat clownfish? I asked in another post but no answers. I acclimated them and they are doing great right now. He got one white one with a bright orange base and one purple and white one. The white one has moved about 2 inches since yesterday. Purple one is still stationary.

Clowns don't host Condys, and I've never heard of a Condy eating a clown. But they're not considered reef safe either. If you have corals you'd better keep an eye on them.

Great...I do have some. frogspawn, rtba, assorted zoos, neon green leather coral, a few mushrooms, a few ricordia's, and palys.

I read other forums that said the condy ate their fish. I just wanted to make sure because i have had my ture percs for a year. They were my first fish.

That's kool. Ive seen maroon and clarkii hosting in condy nem before and sometimes tomatos. But it depends on the fish.

I've had several. Never had anything host in them, but they also didn't roam much at all as long as they got good light, so since they never moved much, they never bothered a single coral of mine. As long as its getting good light and you feed it weekly or so, I doubt it'll move at all once it finds a good place to hide its foot.

I have a purple/Pink Condi hosted by a breeding pair of True Percs. It has never touched any of my fish and as for his neighboring corals. Well after sitting in his fav. spot for over a year he decided he was going to move and planted his butt right dead center of my 200+ colony of Zoa's the only zoo's being effected are the ones within an inch of his foot the rest aern't bothered by him even with his arms all wrapped up in them during the day. I wouldn't keep more then one though just tell him thanks for the present honey but next time make sure you discuss it with me cuase not all this stuff will work well with eachother. By Girl got me a big Marine Betta for my 90 FOWLR while I was on vacation she though she would surprise me cuase I have always wanted one well it ate all 12 of my fish including my female dragonet my all time fav fish.......so it's best you tell him now before you face the same fate as me. Better yet let him read this thread and you won't have to tell him I will. >

just got back from a LFS & lo and behold! a sebae clown was hosting in a condi! I couldn't believe my eye's, guess anything can happen, ya I know I will get some na sayers here but for sure it was the real deal!

I have. It's best to separate them as soon as possible should they begin hosting the condylactics, in my opinion.

Well guess what??? I came home from work tonight and found my male true perc in the condy. I couldnt believe my eyes. And as i sit here and type this he is swimming happily in and out of it. He is trying to get the female to go also. She went to it a few times , stuck her nose in it then backed off. I think she has second thoughts. All the lights are out now and he is nestled in there. Ill post a picture. I guess the nem is happy where it sits. It hasnt moved but a 1/2 inch since saturday.

And Thank you Jonathon for the advice. I told him today and he understood. He said next time he will call someone first. That is if he is going to surprise me.
