my rose tip does the same thing from time to time--esp when it is stressed out
Could be eating some food and not wanting the fish to take it away.
When they are reproducing or splitting they will also retract, sometimes for a few days

now its looking like its just deflated all limp and purple

it is normal dont worry. mine do it all the time. it is usually when pooping, but can happen any time. and trust me my condi is happy. went from 4" including tentacles to 15" in less than 4 months.
