Configuring Internet Access?

I have my apex working off of my home network and sending email and text alerts (with help from the unofficial user guide, thanks aquamanic) but am having problems with port forwarding.
I created a dyndns account and its directing me to my router home page but I don't think it downloaded anything on to my PC. So i hope it will keep track of my IP.
My isp is verizon dsl and its a router modem combo (actiontec gt701gb). I cant find any thing that mentions port forwarding on the router screen. The firewall was turned off by default but I now have it on. I used this screen that is under security applications to allow access for telnet

Can i use this to assign a port for the apex? When I click the PC name box I can select my apex's ip and create a "new rule". Will this work? What is the protocol?

Also their is QoS settings under advance settings that mentions ports. There is upstream and downstream. Will this work? What are these used for?

Also how can I find out what ip address's my router gives out? all the ones I see are above 60 ex. 192.168.1.64, 192.168.1.65

Double check that router model number. Could it be 710-wg?

It won't, you have to do that. Go to dyndns.com, select the support page and it's the download link on the top right of the page.

Look under the Advanced Settings tab, then Application Level Gateway. Should find it there.

Go to www.portforward.com. Tons of info and a link to check your router IP address. Also, www.whatsmyip.com will do the same thing.

When I first went to portforward.com I thought you had to pay I did not see the big button that said to skip this advertisement click here. I looked at the guide but its a little different because I have verizon. But I found the application level gateway under the security section named just "Application"

I should have been more specific I meant how do I know what internal ip address's my router gives out.

Thanks for all the help

There should be a setting in there someplace where you assign the range of local IP addresses. That's only for the routers DHCP function where when a new device shows up the router goes to its table and assigns the next address. You're going to assign a static address to the Apex so you really don't care. It can be in that range or outside of that range (as long as the first 3 octets are the same as the router), the router won't care and won't assign that address to anyone else.
