Confused about Dips - and Freakin out!!

Ok, I just pulled a **** load of various animals off of a Fox Coral before I stuck it in my display. Now I'm freakin paranoid that something made it in there. *pulling hair out* I didn't dip. I just sat there with tweezers pulling everything off the coral's base rock. Some Asterina stars, a tiny crab (that I killed pulling it out), a couple bristleworms, some little bugs that I *think* are Isopods...but what would they be doing on the base rock of a coral?

I've heard of freshwater dips, and Lugol's dips, and Ivermectin dips. What do I use for LPS? SPS? Softies? How long?

I'm confused...and now frickin paranoid too!! Eeek!

Please help! I want to dip new comers now!!!

Everything that you mention sounds like the beneficial creatures of the tank.... QT is the only way to truley protect your tank from newcomers dips in the sense that you are describing are temporary solutions to long term problems...

Like I said the creatures you list are great for your tank... Except I personally hate the little Asterina stars but others will debate this point... The true creatures to really worry about are the bugs and worms that infest SPS, arcoporas and the Nudis that infest zoos. Isopods LIVE oin the base rock of corals :) I do hope this helped... and if not to truly sleep well each night QT is your long term answer :)

people will do lugols\freshwater or a combo of both (stickied in the zoo forum i think) for nudibranchs...
Furan 2 is supposed tohelp with zoa pox..

i've heard of lugals also being used to help with tissue recession\infection in LPS but im not sure about dosage and for how long..

I haven't had much trouble with LPS except for trachyphyllia.. and this one alien eye frag that just bleached over night for no reason - and of course everything else was fine.

Awesome! Thanks guys! I really didn't find much when I searched for info on dips...
