Confusing algae outbreak need some help please.

I know exactly what you are talking about actually, I've seen it a lot. The reason why it occurs in high flow areas is because that is where there is the most amount of nutrients is passed through, so it can very quickly develop in those areas.

It cant be feeding.. I feed sooooo little. I feed nothing for my corals but light from my radion. And my fish get a tiny bit of spectrum sinking pellets and every other day a snall amount of mysis shrimp and i try and feed it slow through a turkey blaster so that i see them eat everything.

What are you doing to remove nutrients from the tank?
Is it just the sock, or do you have a skimmer, do water changes, clean the rocks, vacuum the sand?

I expect algae but this one type of snot algae is terrible and it started about a week ago and it seams to be getting worse it clogs my filter sock in a matter of 3 days and makes my sock feel like a bowl of slimey clear snot. Its not on my rocks or sand just filters and a huge amount in my overflow box.

Stop running your filter sock and see what happens. I stopped running them a few months ago and I'm quite happy that I did. The only time I'll use a sock now is when I do a good sandbed cleaning and blowing off my lr. Other than that nope don't use the sock anymore, was just too much of a pita with the clogging and it captures too many pods for my taste.

Issue is that eventually it all builds up in the water column, even if it is just small amounts each day. How often do you do water changes?

I don't know if carbon or gfo would help. It very well may. Usually with this sort of things having a skimmer would help too.

How long have you had the tank though? Did you use live rock to start with?

Are you carbon dosing? that could easily produce a clear slimy bacteria.

Tank like stated in original post is 4 months old exactly today. I do about a 15% water change every Monday and I have a reef octupus skimmer rated for 150 gallons on this 90 gallon system. It pulls out a nice dark tea color. I don't dose anything or add any chemicals just regular water changes and seachem calcium and mag,alk when needed in my mixing salt container to get to proper levels before I do the water change. I just bought some BRF GFO going to run it in my reactor and see how that goes
