Congrats TMZ!!

I had to check something on RC at work which took me to the home page which I never see at "home". When the page opened, I thought to myself, "I KNOW THOSE TANKS!". And quickly realized that the tank(s) of the month belonged to you. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm very happy for you.

What Coral foods?

What Coral foods?

Great tank Tom!!!!
I notice that you vodka/vinegar carbon dose. I have been dosing Vinegar for a while now. My corals started to fade away once the levels got down to a level that reduced the algae growth. I then started to add Red Seas Reef Energy A & B. They state that they include aminos and other carbohydrates...? Now my corals have regained most of their colors. But it is very expensive to keep up with.
May I ask what you are doing to have such great colors!!!

Thankyou.
I don't run the PO4 or NO3 to 0. I keep it at just below or at .05ppm for PO4 and .2ppm for NO3. This is sufficient to keep nuisance algae at bay with a wisp or two here and there from time to time andto avoid nitrogen or phospahte limitation. I do not dose supplements beyond kalkwaser with an occasional alk tweak with baked baking soda.. I feed the fish well . Lit Refigia are in use as are cryptic zones .There is a good deal of sponge growth throughout the system and a good deal of zooplankton.Granulated activated carbon and purigen are also in use along with heavy skimming. I do frequent small water changes totaling about 40% per month.

Further details are in the totm article:

Feel free to ask quetionss if something needs clarification.

Tom, it was a pleasure meeting both you and your wife Jennifer, you both were very hospitable and charming people, thanks so much for allowing us to visit on very short notice. having seen your TOTM in person was such a sweet treat for us, as there was so much candy for our eyes! we both learned a lot, especially me, as i came away with much more confidence on how to move forward with our build :)
