Considering Getting Back In

Well I've been out of the hobby for a couple years after a trade went bad and I got a leaky tank, long story. But now that I am entering college and living at home, I think it's time to get back into the hobby. I'm sure I'll have the time and money for it this go around (as a high school student it was a stretch with things as expensive as they are).
But I traded a 125g for a 55g reef ready system because I needed to downgrade. Well the 55g tank itself was leaking (found out the hard way). I still have the stand, hood (with MH's and T5's or VHO's not sure), and a bunch of misc. filters/etc. I don't know how many of those are still working, I'm hoping the large protein filter I had for my 125g still works well. I also have a 20g Long that was intended for a sump.
Two questions I have for now as I'm considering jumping back in, where could I find a 55g drilled for a decent price? Any fish store around N. OKC or Edmond carry them regularly?
Also where can I find the cheapest Live Rock? From experience that's usually the killer expense wise (at least start up cost).
Thanks,
Michael

I just got back in myself after an extended leave. I think it may have been the smartest move I've done in years. When you get your tank, holler at me, I probably will have some extra rock still as I only plan to setup the 1 tank this time round (I went extra nuts last time and ended up having 21 tanks running in my house :P ) I'd be happy to toss you a few nice pieces to welcome you back to the hobby (will need to be cured as it's old, dead, and dried out) But you gotta remind me :) i'm forgetful.

@ Papagimp Thank you so much! Wow 21 tanks is a lot to care for haha. I may hold you to it.
@ Lytehouse thanks for all your help

Me too after six year hiatus. Glad I set back up. Also downsized but have drilled dump in basement.

Please do. I can't tell you how much this club has helped me in the past, and even though I should pay back all that help they give me, I try to pay it forward at every possible chance. A few pieces of rock doesn't even come close to what they've given me in the past :)

belated welcome back to you too :) Was that dump hard to drill? ;)

If you watch Craigslist the 55s sell fairly cheap, or petco may still be doing $1 a gallon. As far as drilling a tank its easy to do and you can get all you need including overflow and bulkheads from glass holes . Com

Is it easy for someone who's slightly "handyman" challenged? I'd be afraid I'd crack the glass or something. But I may look it up to see how it's done, would be a lot easier finding just a regular 55g and drilling it myself.

I've drilled several myself and the only accident occured after setting the tank up and a rock fell in cracking my newly drilled tank ;p the actual drilling wasn't to bad. theirs several threads floating about showing the procedure. I practiced on a 10g first since i was scared I'd mess up a nicer tank. This thread is a little old but shows some neato stuff about this

Hmm. Maybe I'll practice on my 20g and buy a new sump (it's really dirty now). Thanks for the link!

I watched shawnes 6 yearold do it LOL. On glass holes there are tutorials as well. shawne and I have drilled 3 tanks now (9 holes total) and no issues. If you need or want help we are always here!

Just a word of warning...My last 55g I tried to drill exploded! Seems some 55g tanks have tempered front/back panels.
