Considering Nikon 18-105 vr lens

I am considering purchasing this lens for my tank photography. I am getting it at a good price. But before I fork over a few hundred, I would like to know if anyone is using or has had any experience with this lens?

It's an ok lens, it can get really close but not really a true macro lens.

I use it as my typical walk around lens, but don't use it for tank photography. I have a 105mm Macro for the tank. As a walk-around, it's great!

I'm also using it as a walk-around/everyday lens. I picked it up (wih my new D5000) about a month before I went on holiday to china. Absolutley fantastic lens for the price, though I have no idea how it will do for aquarium photography.

If you're looking for a lens for the purpose of aquarium shots, this is not your lens. You want to be looking for a dedicated macro. A Tamron 90mm would be a good option for a similar price.
