"Consistent" = Don't change flow at night?

So do most folks find success in leaving the flow the same at night vs. during the day? I've turned down my power head at night and this AM my new crispa was really wadded up so I'm not sure if it's that or something else.

He appears to inflate and put his tentacles out when the lights come on, however, so...not sure what to think.

Night before last he was 1/2 way balled up. This AM not balled up but tentacles really short - kinda like he was a Haddoni.

The balling up is not unusual for them but when they open up again their tentacles should be long. Short tentacles is a sign that they are not doing well. At least that's what I observed with mine in the past.
Do you have pictures? Those would help to tell what's going on.
