Controller: Reef Angel or Neptune Apex AquaController (or other...)

I will go for the Apex for a bunch of reasons..

1. solid company backing it up vs 1-person with Reef Angel
2. proven to work a little longer than Reef Angel
3. actually saves me money over-time, considering the amount of expansions I would have to get for RA.

Good luck with the Apex, its a fine product and I am sure you will be happy with it. I would however like to mention a few things.

Reef Angel is not literally one person, its not a guy sitting in his garage making these. While Roberto is the owner and driving force, there are many other business components.

There isn't anything to show that an Apex will work longer than the Reef Angel, kind of a broad unsubstantiated statement.

Not sure about the math, when I priced out the Apex and DA, all told they would have cost much more than the Reef Angel.

And one additional item, when you have a question or problem at 11:30 pm, Apex or DA will not be answering your emails within minutes as Roberto will. Or send out a replacement cable within days at no cost. Reef angel customer support is unparalleled.

Looking down the road in this hobby could mean you're stuck with yesterday's stuff or you're buying something new. Face it in five years there will be an even better more complete choice than either.

Same case with every other piece of equipment in existence currently.
The same applies for the Led lights
If it gets too outdated we can always upgrade!

I do appreciate the reply I did never say that the reason RA would last any shorter than the apex.
It was not an easy choice as both devices seem very capable and the price difference is very low
