i have the apex. I can be configured using the basic templates which are easy or you can get down and modify every line. It is also alot easier to upgrade firmsware than rke.
As far as best controller, I'd say Profilux. It will cost a fair bit more than the others, but worth it in my opinion.
I bought both the Apex and the Profilux and tried them side by side over the past few months. I sold the Apex and kept the Profilux. The Profilux is better built, better engineered, and just better thought out all around.....and, there is now a very sweet touchscreen available for it.
The apex will not take you a few days to program, that is laughable. It has basic preset programs from your computer that are as simple as putting in a time. Even the advanced programming is far from difficult, and if you are stuck, they have an extremely active forum here on RC and online guides. Plus if you need to you can email Curt and have a response within hours if not minutes.

Yes, if money is no problem, the profound is great with awesome integrated hardware like lights and dozers. For most though, they need tk find a balance between top of the line and cost, plus how much it costs to add
