I really like the 40g breeders...I just think they are an interesting shape. I think I'm going to build one of those whenever I upgrade my 10g. I will be following this thread as well.

You should defiantly drill it and put in an overflow.

acually i have a hang on back overflow but i cant decide if im going to use it or have just a hole drilled but i am for sure having holes drilled in it for the return

the pump heater and powerheads r comming on wed.
have more pics on the way

dont use hang on back overflow they always fail and you end up with 30 gallons saltwater on your floor

What are you talking about? I have had my HOB oveflow for a year now, and I have not had 1 problem with it. So they definatly do not "always fail" buddy.

I can't wait to see your progress.

I just picked up a 40 gallon breeder. I am upgrading from a 29 gallon. I am drilling the 40 and putting in a glass overflow in the back middle of the tank, and drilling two holes for returns which will be connected to a SCWD.

whoa buddy how could it possibly be 100 percent when it depends on water level and siphon i must be a moron or something but when i use siphons and the water falls below it it stops what woudl you use one for if you could drill a brand new tank not to mention how much better it looks with a custom overflow sorry if i offended you run that HOB for ten years and tell me it never once stopped and when they do what happens pumps overheat and or water spill interal if done right is always better

I second the idea to drill the tank...HOB overflows are a pain and they take up wayyy too much room and look dumb.

This is the main reason I am drilling my new 40 breeder. HOB overflows look ugly. I want a tank as clean looking as possible. If he drills it, he won't need those powerheads either.

I'll have mine drilled by wednesday and hopefully have the loc line installed so you can see what I'm doing to mine.
