Copepods and amphipods

It's been a few years but I remember when I had a refugium with chaeto someone gave my some powder that contained different types of eggs that would hatch out and seed my refugium but I don't seem able to find that now. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and I'm not talking about the mark Weiss powder because I bought that and I don't see any big critters coming from it.

Never heard of that other than brine shrimp eggs. Have you checked Brine Shrimp Direct? Interested to see if you find the original source.

I know you would put 1 tbs of the powder in the sump a day for 3 days

Seems like it would be a great solution for populating the display as well assuming the fish wouldn't eat the eggs when they were put in. I always have to put my pods in after lights out or the fish have a field day eating them.

The only thing I've ever used is Mark Weiss Reef Bugs but you stated that wasn't it. I've had real good success with this product though. I think the key with it is to use it weekly and consistently.

I can't say ive heard of that but if you just buy a 1000 copepod pack it should seed the ref. so that you dont have to keep adding them.

A little over a month ago, I bought a 1000 Amphipod and copepod's. Today I have this photo. With these little buggers flitting around in and on top of this purple stuff, with these "Wasp Nest's" looking things becoming visible as the purple retreats. My question is, What in the world IS the "Wasp Nest's" looking things. Am I actually having these pods hatching????? Or is it something else????????

Either a sponge or an ascidian, probably the former. Neat looking thing! Half the fun of saltwater is the "Ee, what is THAT thing??"

Anyone been able to track down copepod egg powder? I'd be all over that if such a thing existed.

no. i can't find that stuff. i've looked. living in canada adds a whole new dimension to this hobby.
