copper and macroalgae?

What kind of effect does copper have on macroalgae?

Does it kill instantly once added to the water?
Will it be able to thrive again later on?

I believe that copper has little effect on macroalgae when dosed in a manner to remove ick or other fish pathogens. In a really high concentration it may have some deleterious effect, but by the time the concentration got that high everything else would likely be dead as well.

Right, I've had Caulerpa (sertualroides, peltata, brachypus and prolifera), Chaetomorpha, Ulva, Halymenia and Gracilaria survive copper treatments in quarantine tanks. No problems. High doses of it are likely to cause problems but if you keep within normal therapeutic levels for the fish, you should be okay.
