Copper Band Butterfly coming from Live Aquaria Tuesday!

So far I haven't seen him go for an aiptasia....

I found that my CBB went for aptasia when the volume of food was reduced. My 2 cents is to get him eating the foods you are providing like you are, let him settle in and worry about the aptasia control down the road.

In my tank whenever I walk up to it, my CBB and Midas Blenny both come over and stare up at the top of the tank. The other fish expect food will come, but those 2 stage themselves waiting for the magic of the "food falling from the sky". My CBB holds his own well with the others at feeding time now, but my fish population is pretty peaceful.

Good luck.

Nothing yet with Fedex but LA put $10 in my account due to the fact that he was in the smaller size class (that was the difference in advertised price).

I am going to let him eat as much as he wants for now...

I don't mean to hijack the thread but could you give some details on where to buy live clams? I got a CCB last week and I am also having trouble getting him to eat.

In addition to offering clams from the supermarket, make sure to get live blackworms from a lfs and offer those. A healthy cbb pretty much always will eat live blackworms and clam.

I would throw out the bloodworms which are not worms but insect larvae and not the best thing for a saltwater fish.
I guess you can't get blackworms.

My mistake, I meant blackworms. I did try bloodworms (I have a green spotted brackish puffer that lives in my reef tank that loves them), but he didn't like them.

He seems to like the PE mysis best, hikari mysis second and the live blackworms third...

Dan, I am not sure how active and eater he is with the rest, but when I got mine, I noticed that he was the first fish out early AM looking for food, so I made sure he got a private blackworm feeding. That helped a lot and like I posted earlier, he's now mixing it up with the rest of the crew when the normal feedings come.

I also have seen the post where someone used a turkey baster for private feedings :)

Private feedings, huh. I will see if he wakes up earlier than the vlamingi tang...

I feed my CBB individually with a turkey baster. I have had mine for a month now. It did not take long for my CBB to recognize the turkey baster as a food source. I now feed all food to the CBB with the turkey baster ( Mysis, Rods, Marine cuisine, and black worms ). It seemed to help get the CBB used to the turkey baster by using it to feed the live black worms. The black worms wiggle in the baster and this really stimulated the CBB. Now the CBB will eat any meaty food out of it.

I have not found it necessary to give the individual feedings when the other fish are distracted or early before they awake. The other fish cannot get to the food in the baster and the CBB sticks his long snout into the end of the tube sucking up his fill. It works great for me. I would give it a try.

I target feed everything in my tank with one of these and always have.

Thanks for all the advice, I will make a tube feeder I think...

Here is a pic of the little guy:

I love copperbands, one of my favorite fish. Yours is a little skinny and needs a little fattening up. They lose weight below their dorsal fin as you can see. In such a flat fish that is the only place you can see the weight loss.
Mine always liked a little Bud after dinner

Doesn't the aluminum leach into the water, or is that an old steel can?

I know he is skinny, feeding extra now and skimming extra wet...
