copper

Hi guys,

I currently am using seacure's copper treatment. It says on the bottle than 1 drop per gallon will equal 0.15 ppm. I dosed my level near 0.25 at the beggining of the treatment. It has been 4 days. My copper test kit is too hard to read to see if the level has fallen. I don't have any substrate, this is just a barebottom tank with pvc so there isnt much to absorb the copper. Will copper levels naturally fall over time, and if so, would water changes with new copper be the necessary thing to do to keep this level?

Copper levels will drop in time, even with a bare bottom tank. It binds with minerals in the water, as well as any organics. You really need to find a test kit that you can read, as redosing without knowing what the existing level is can be a real problem.

I highly recommend using Seachem's copper test kit. It's the one with a dip stick and white powder. I had major issues with other test kits including API's.
