Copperband mouth out of water...

Just grabbed a copperband from Jeff's in Orange; he's pretty beaten up (was in with a significantly larger tang), but otherwise seemed healthy. Acclimated this afternoon, and he was doing laps through/around some live rock. Came home from dinner, and he's up near a return with his mouth out of water. When startled, he'll run back to his cave and act normal, but I'm curious as to why he may have his mouth out in the first place.

My guess is that there's not enough oxygen, in which case I'm not sure how to solve this tonight - the lid's open, the house is closed but the A/C is on, the powerheads are pointed at the surface. Any other suggestions?

Tank info: tank is 48" long 60G with a rio1100 providing surface agitation, and a fluval304 providing a bit of circulation and carbon - the rio's getting replaced with a seio tomorrow. Tank is full of NSW, ammonia tests at 0ppm, nitrites at 0ppm, nitrates at < 10ppm. He's the only fish in the system, but it's been running with crabs and snails for about a month and a half...

Was wondering why you bought it when it was pretty beaten up unless they gave you a huge discount on the copperband
