coral banded shrimp Question

i have a cbs around 2inches hes pretty big. i have an aptasia problem. i tried putting in 3 peppermint shrimp but within 2 days they were dinner for my cbs. i have a 75gal tank. i was wondering if my cbs would be able to adjust to life in my refugium while i loaded my tank with peppermints. would he be able to live in this much smaller tank the fuge is probably 12 x 10 with some rock rubble and some micro alge. would that do or do i need to add more rock. just tryin to get rid of my aptasia.

if you want him to be happy add some rock for him to hide in

thats what i was thinking just wasnt sure if he could adjust tfrom 75g to lil fuge

The shrimp will be fine moving from a 75gallon into a fuge as long as there are a couple of rocks for it to hide in like metioned above.

Thats really weird. I have had an even bigger coral banded shrimp in a 46 gallon tank with two peppermints, 3 anemone shrimp, 2 sexy shrimp and 2 cleaners, and he hasn't eaten any at all. Are you sure he ate them? And how big were the peppermints? I could understand them getting eaten if they were babies, but adults shouldn't get eaten in that size tank.

yup he ate them i watch as i put them in the tank he stalked them and ate them. as far as babies or adults i dont know how big peps get bu they were no wear near his size my cbs is over 2 inches and he goes after every pep i put in there

I guess each CBS is different. I've had mine forover 2 years now and he's about 2". I added 2 baby (1/2") Skunk Cleaner Shrimp and I thought they died. They disappeared for over a month after adding them. Then one night I saw them. Now I've had them for over a year and they're about 1".

But to answer your question, as the others have said, I agree, it should be fine in the refuge, just add some rocks. It might eat alot of the life out, I believe they forage for food and may eat the copods. Not sure though.

i figured as much gonna get some peps and off to the fuge he goes. i also noticed that when i feed my nem he goes after him and attacks him also. he is one unique animal iand i love watching him thats why i was checking i dont want anything to happen to him
