coral banded shrimp

Mine does harass corals some, but doesn't do any damage to them. She just picks through them. I think they will harm other shrimp though.

Besides the mantis, CBS are next in the agressive range and WILL kill smaller inverts or small fish it can catch and overpower.

I have a coral and a peppermint in my 29 and they routinely hang out together because their "territories" are about 3 inches away from each other. I dunno about other shrimps though.

I would say if you have a large coral banded shrimp in a tank smaller than around 35 gallons, other shrimp would not be safe with it. I have a large one in a 46 gallon with TONS of other tiny shrimp and it has never harmed them or my fish, but it will chase after them if they cross over its territory. Thats why a 35 gallon or less tank would not be safe since its territory would take alot of space for others.

So it should be safe if your tank is bigger than 35 gallons. And you shouldn't worry about the fish or corals being harmed, its normally just shrimp and newly introduced fish that can be harmed by one.
I have never had a pistol shrimp, but I think they are pretty tough shrimp, I don't think a coral banded shrimp would attack it unless it was poorly acclimated and stressed.

What size tank do you have? Thats probably the biggest factor, second being how stressed your new inhabitants are and how vulnerable they will be to a large shrimp.

Keep us updated with how it goes and good luck

well the plan was to keep it in my new biocube29 I want to keep a clown sixline yellow watchman and maybe another small fish. But i was planing on all zoas and some shrooms so i dont want to keep any of the cleaner shrimps or crabs. I want to have at least one shrimp. Mainly the coral banded is for clean up crew but if there are any other please suggest.

Get a pair of the yellow coral banded shrimp. They are smaller and less aggressive, but hide more. Pardon me for being too lazy to look up the species names. The type with the blue thorax stays VERY small, under 1 1/2 inch. I've had a pair in a 20 gal for two years with many other smaller shrimp. They are shy, but absolutely beautiful.

i have a pair of the small yellow coral bandeds (Stenopus zanzibaricus)
and was always told they were not safe to put other shrimp in with. i have a 40 long with about 50 lbs of live rock. can i put other shrimp in there?
