coral dips ?

I have been keeping corals for about a year and a half now. I've had some success with some and no success with others. One thing I have never done is dip my corals into anything.

What dips are used for what and should I dip everything I put into my tank?

I plan on going on a shopping spree within the next couple of months and I want to make sure that everything I add gets the best start.

I use Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure (TMPCC).
Thing is.... even a dip might not kill all pests. AEFW's can survive a dip.

bluefish, thanks but mine's making a comeback. I thought it was gone but a few polyps survived and it is encrusting nicely again.

I do. It's a PITA but I have to weigh my risks.
Years ago it wasn't common practice to dip corals. I used to run a harem of Leopard Wrasses and that's what I plan on doing again in the near future.

hey gary can you make up the intercepter water and store in the frige and just warm it up each time and use it again and again. just wondering if this would work.
or is it a use it and toss it type of thing.

I've never had to use Intercepter.

I definatly wouldn't store the interceptor as it is majorly made up of beef flavoring that I assume would spoil. Maybe I'm wrong? Who knows.

What about freshwater? Do you dip in freshwater, then revive, then interceptor? It just seems like a lot of dipping. Are there corals that can't handle going through the dips?

In my expeience,

they can all handle an idoine dip such as tmpc or lugols.

Most lps ,sofites,zoanthids and clams can handle a freshwater dip; sps will bleach. and often die with a feshwater dip..

They can all handle interceptor flavoring and all..

Revive works pretty well on all of them. They can all tolerate a dip in flat worm exit if needed.

I have been dipping mine in TMPCC for 10 minutes and then Revive for 5 minutes.

There isn't much point in unflavored interceptor as its designed as an easy to use heart worm prevention for dogs, and its easier when you can just toss it to them and they eat it. I will ask my vet when she gets home for lunch about storage, but you don't need very much to treat a small volume of water, so ask your vet for the toy dog dosage and calculate the needed mg per volume needed; its probably about half a pill so you should have about 24 treatments per pack.
