Id like to keep either the meyer's, eightline, or blue-lined butterfly in my fowlr...these fish eat purely coral in the wild... has anyone ever got them to eat anything other than live coral? I understand that it is not correct to collect a fish that will surley die so im just looking for some research before i make a purchase.

No ones done it yet, and some very qualified aquarists have tried with all the commonly available foods. So unless you have a very large quantity of SPS to feed one, I'd skip them ;)

The Heniochus Black & White Butterflyfish comes in two vspecies. The H. Acuminatus isn NOT reef safe but the H.Diphreutes IS reef safe. Problem is you have to trust the supplier because there is only a slight difference in thirprofiles (nose I believe). The Diphreutes is on my list. Jim

which Heniochis is not reef safe I have the Hawaiian one. Not sure which is which. Probably should have researched more before I bought it. LOL.

Probably worth starting a thread of your own ;)

That said, usually squid, silversides, sand lance, and shrimp are normally accepted by most rays.

I agree with both things you said. However, I am unsure how we got to discussing rays. Or for that matter Heniochus.
