i researched it and i think it is a pagoda, but im not sure. can u guys give me some info on it like flow, lighting, and care for it? is it a hardy species? i got it under 384w of pc lighting and is in the middle of my tank, prolly around 10inches away from the lights. i noticed that it doesnt open up fully when i have all my lights on. it opens up more with dimmer lighting. any info would be appreciated.

Be sure to research before you buy next time.

TipptToe,
Is that the scientific name for a Pagoda? NM, I did a search. Yep that's it.

I have a rather large Pagoda I've had for about 5 years now. Looks similar to what is posted but it's hard to tell with no poylops extended. Mine likes higer light and medium flow. I've never fed it directly but I know it eats from the water colum. It sit's about 18" under 175W XM 10K MH and 220 W PC Atinic. Pic's in my gallery. ;)

is it normal for it not to open at first? how long does it take for them to start opening or do they open at night or something?

When I got mine it was very mad . So mad the flesh was as cose to the skelton as it could be. Eventually the polyps started to come out but they looked weird and then later it was full fleshy and lots of wide open flower like polyps .

Give it time :)

im still playin the waiting game, it hasnt fully opened yet but some of the polyps are peeking out a little bit. im wondering if the lights are too much for it but im only running pc's. it was in a tank with t-5's but it wasnt directly underneath the lights. hmmm just wondering, is this coral hardy or a lot more sensitive like a gonipora?

IMO hardy . Has it been in tank life long or a recent buy at a lfs?

If a recent buy give it time . I had mine under all types of light.

If the polyps are out more today leave it be. Give it a week if it continues to display better its on it way to recovery and adjustment to tank life.

If the polyps receed and or you see tissue recessing then worry until then watch and enjoy :D

BTW mine went from a 4x65w pc setup to , 2x175 +2x96 atinics to 2x250se +2x96 atinic pc's and to 2x250de.

The more light it got down th eorad the more it grew and the purpler it got.

ok thanks i thought the lighting was too much for it. cuz it was barely getting ne light in the tank it was in at the lfs. i was kinda worried cuz i put right in the middle of the tank i didnt give it time to acclimate to the light. i was thinking of moving it a little bit lower but i guess ill leave it be for now and hope everything turns out fine.

it actually wasn't. its one of those lfs that just sucks but i seen this peice and it looked the best so i got it. it was only 8bucks so i wanted to see if it would do well in my tank and im hoping it does. everything in my tank is doing well *knock on wood* so ill just sit n wait.

I also have a pagoda cup coral and it took three weeks for there to be any hint of polyps. It extended more and more each day until now at six weeks I think it is fully open. I have it under 4 65 watt PC about 3/4 of the way up. It is beautiful and worth the wait.

its coming out little by little each day. i got my fingers crossed and cant wait to see it fully open.

every time I have moved my pagoda to a different system with different lighting it took a few days for it to adjust to the light
