Coral Issue and a fish death...

Hey guys,

Something is going on in my tank. A month ago I lost a fish without any warning, I saw no signs of disease and no signs of any lethargy. It went from one day everything is fine to the next day he's floating under a rock. It was the only fish in the tank and I was quarantining another, so that fish is still in quarantine. I was waiting out whatever may have caused the death. Well now it seems I am having trouble with my corals. My Caulastrea and Euphyllia both show receding tissue. I have two Fungias on the bottom and another lps, i dont see any issues on those besides one plate being slightly pale. I havn't fed the tank for the last month and I'm running carbon. Is there anything anyone would suggest I do to stop this? This tank is nearly 6 years old and this is the first time I have seen this happen to my corals, although I have not been able to keep fish the entire time, I rarely try fish anymore because I hate losing a fish. I have kept my newest fish in quarantine for more than 3 months now and he is doing great. Any advice would be appreciated and Thank you. I attached some pictures of my corals and tank.

Wow that has to be really frustrating.

Everyone will want to know specific parameter values.
Any changes or new additions such as changing out carbon or GFO.
Any thing at all that you recently did or changed.

Good luck I sure hope it turns around for you.

Alright I did the tests today and to be doubly sure had the fish store test them, but they used api tests so ill go with mine.

Temp: 79f
Ph: 8.1 (lights off mid night cycle)
Alk: 11dkh
Ca: 360ppm
Nitrate: undetected
Ammonia: undetected

I havnt checked magnesium yet if its relevant ill run a test

Thanks again guys.

Definitely check the mag. Do you have a deep sand bed or anything like that? Have you changed anything on any plumbing (if you have plumbing)?

5 months ago i glued a new fitting on my plumbing and built a new sump, all fittings and glue dried for more than 24hrs and rinsed before being put into use.

Mag: 1080ppm

Failed to mention, bare bottom and no refugium and another test

Phosphate: undetectable (i have hair algae so of course thats the result)
