Coral Problems

If you don't have a grounding probe, order one of those as well. They're not that expensive.

It's not the expense of a grounding probe that concerns me, it is the results. I know there are mixed opinions about grounding probes. The one thing that seems certain is that adding a grounding probe without a GFCI is extremely dangerous. Make sure you have your equipment plugged into a GFCI if you're going to use a probe.

In addition, the opinion regarding the efficacy of grounding probes is far from unanimous. There are people who feel that "stray voltage" is a possible cause of various aquarium maladies such as HLLE. However, this has not been proven and there is a camp that feels that adding a grounding probe turns potential energy into actual flowing current, which may be far more dangerous for livestock than the stray voltage was in the first place.

In this case, I think that instead of investing in grounding probes and other less-than-proven cures, I would stop work on the more important issues at hand, namely adding supplements without testing for deficiency, improving lighting, improving water quality, etc.

I would really like to know your PO4 reading.

My PO4 reading is above 2.... I know thats bad. How can I fix it?

My calcium is reading about 650 on two different test kits, can that be right?

My Mg is reading is 920.

Help anybody!

I use B-Ionic, should I slow down on the calcium dose? What do I do to the Alk dose?

2 as in 2ppm? Not .2 or .02 but just 2? That is waaaaaaaay high.

Water change, water change water change and GFO.

Can you post a full set of parameters as of today? Mag is low calcium is high so I would assume Alk is going to be off too. Also like Djkms asked what is the po4? because 2 .2 and .02 would all be a huge difference. If it is indeed 2 then that is going to be a major problem.

Get some cheato in your sump to suck up that PO4, I have it in my sump guess what zero PO4! plus a DSB along with cheato help, nitrate is also zero.

If everything looks good but just not spreading it's pretty normal. Some corals grow faster and some grow slower, give it some time and you should be able to see new polyps in a month. Usually I dose iodide for softies growth, they tend to grow faster but dose it very carefully, I use Kent Tech-I.
