coral rx

I have used Coral RX to dip 30 or more SPS frags and colonies after purchase and prior to introduction to DT

I have only had 1 mini colony dipped that resulted in live crabs being seen in the treatment vessel ( they where still alive but had vacated the coral)

I have several colonies that have been treated, that I have seen live crabs in the coral, after the coral was placed in the tank which naturally includes a couple (small green furry types that seemed to be creating a bald area on the coral) that I have had to later remove using a toothpick and tweezer combination to extract

if you have a crab you want to keep, IMO better to remove from the coral using toothpick/ tweezers etc to pursue it out of the branches where you can eventually flick it into a waiting collection vessel

Has anyone had any problems dipping corals that have just been shipped?

I dipped some that had been bagged for half a day and wow, they did not like it. Brown outs and faded colours, etc. The one's I didn't dip did just fine...

I have always wondered the same thing. It puts one somewhat between a rock and hard place with attempting to rid the coral of nuisance pests and stressing out the coral more prior to acclimation.

Highlights the real need for a QT coral tank I suppose.

Corals need a week or so to settle in before being dipped. Any corals I purchased locally and dipped did ok btw. Just ones that were bagged and freighted for a longer period suffered too much.

Now I have undipped corals in my tank, so I'm really relying on my mandarin and 6-line wrasse...

Just got coral rx because I got some corals fron the lfs and now 2 of my sps started to loose there skin like the one I got from the lfs I guess a qt tank is what I have to do.
Do you keep the qt tank on its own system? What is best.

The quarantine tank should be separate from the main system to keep diseases from spreading as easily. The six-line and the mandarin will compete for food, so I'm not sure that's a recommended stocking list.
