Coral skeleton uses?

Hey all. I have a very large and very dead piece of what looks like what was once a pretty piece of stylophora. I was wondering what, if anything, can it be used for? It's been chillin' in my sump, but I didn't know if maybe it could be "repopulated" or something, maybe with a different encrusting-type sps?

Thanks!

Dead coral = live rock. It's extremely porous and a calcareous skeleton that can harbor DE-nitrifying bacteria and can be seeded with living corals as a platform to grow on.

Hope this helps

put some cool monti frags on it, and let hte monti encrust it ;) like the rainbow monti !

then you can come back and post pics of it and brag that you have the one and only multicolour porites.
lol

I recently had a post similar to this a few weeks ago. I got the response of keep as live rock, cut up and use as frag disc even a paperweight.

I cant fnd the pic, but a friend whos tank crashed last year is using one of his dead millies as a candle holder now LOL looked prety cool
lol
