We are pleased to announce that Premium Aquatics will now be carrying the Coral Smoothie coral food from AlgaGen!

Coral Smoothie is a first of its kind for natural and convenient marine aquarium feeding . Coral Smoothie has been designed to provide the variety of food items found on tropical coral reefs. It is formulated with everything from vegetable protein to whole zooplankton and eggs. The product has been proven to stimulate marine tanks drawing responses from invertebrates such as snails and shrimp to corals and fish, with particle sizes ranging from 2 to 5,000 microns.

Coral Smoothie Contains:
"¢ 9 species of microalgae
"¢ Artemia nauplii
"¢ Copepods
"¢ Rotifers
"¢ Clam larvae
"¢ Oyster larvae
"¢ Oyster eggs and tissue
"¢ Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
"¢ Fish Eggs
"¢ Decapsulated artemia cysts
"¢ Copepod eggs
"¢ Mussel & Squid

The food comes in an easy to use squirt bottle that allows the hobbyist to either feed an entire tank, or spot feed specific animals within the system.

I have been using it and have been very satisified with the results in a soft coral / lps system. I have not tried it in an sps system yet.

I just bought some and I dont know about my corals yet, but my fish go absolutely nuts over it. Even the hiders come out to feed...

They like it even better than any of the frozen foods...

I want a liquid food with no large pieces in it. Does this fit the bill?

Edit: oops, just read "2-5000 microns". Not gonna work for me.

What are you trying to feed? This is indeed a liquid food, with no large chunks at all, however it depends on what you're trying to feed. If it's fish, then it probably will not work.

Corals. :)

SPS corals in particular. I have plenty of LPS and zoas too, but for me it's all about the fuzzy sticks.

So, are you saying the info above is incorrect when it says "particle sizes ranging from 2 to 5,000 microns"?

It has a few pieses that range in size from a small piece of flake food to some 1 inch long snottie looking pieces. But these are few and far between. Maybe one or two in each squirt.

Would you say that maybe I could pour it through a net to strain out those pieces, or would I just lose too much product?

I want a product I can feed at night when the SPS are in feeding mode. Since all the fish are asleep, these larger pieces will only serve to feed the bristle worms.

Dude, this stuff wakes my fish up and they come-a-runin...Like I said only a few bigger pieces per squirt...

Well I do wonder if this product was tested for Phosphates as I did get a huge spike since I started using it... Not saying for certain that it caused it but it is the only different thing I have done...

Yeah it's not gonna work for me. Looking at the ingredients:

• 9 species of microalgae
• Artemia nauplii
• Copepods
• Rotifers
• Clam larvae
• Oyster larvae
• Oyster eggs and tissue
• Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
• Fish Eggs
• Decapsulated artemia cysts
• Copepod eggs
• Mussel & Squid

It's all good until you get to mussel and squid. And maybe "oyster tissue". That's your big chunks, and they've got to go.

Typically sps feed on smaller zooplankton, 200+ micron size, which this would be covered. Now having said that I would never say this is a meant to be an sps food. If you're looking strictly for an sps food then I'd suggest trying to track down some Golden Pearls (could argue it's slightly on the small size for sps), but everyone I've ever talked to seems to love it.

Thanks for the advice!! I've looked at GP before (as well as REEF Pearls). They sell several sizes, do you know which one your friends use??

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but I was searching to see if this stuff expires (like how quick phytofeast does!) and came across this thread and forum. FTR, mfg says 6 month shelf life, then refrigerate after opening. it does not contain live critters lol.

I bought mine about 3 months ago and its been in the fridge, so I should be good. Im gonna go feed for the first time in months before the lights come on.

I also wanted to add that when I was feeding this, my corals exploded. I unfortunately was diagnosed with an auto immune disease and have neglected the tank :( , but before I was sick and I was feeding this religiously and all corals were growing/multiplying and colored up like crazy.

I plan on going back to feeding this unless someone wants to suggest something new and fun and better and bad ***!

Coral Smoothie is a great product, which they also now have Simply Clam and Oyster Delight to go along with this one.

thats right. I just use the original though. that and cyclopeeze and whatever brine/mysis they catch.

I miss having access to anything and everything in my backyard. I used to live in castleton for a few years. so easy to spend so much money at PA. the stores are few and far between up in cleveland. Blue Fish Aquariums is my favorite so far.

I just need to find a solid source for rare zoanthid and acans that hold their crazy colors.
Do you still feed coral smoothie?

We do still feed it in some of our systems, not all though. The LPS in the systems we feed it to are insanely fluffy!
