Hey everyone,

I just woke up this morning and noticed these marks on my coral (supposedly it was sold to me as a little fragged milli 1 year ago ---> not sure anymore what it is). Is this aefw? Or is it alk issues?

The first picture does have some characteristics of AEFW bite marks, particularly those round marks towards the bottom and on the right. It's hard to say because usually with AEFW you will see the large marks like you have, as well as less severe ones scatter between them. The problem is I don't see any of those, just the big ones.

Sometimes marks like these can be confused with new growth. Small white marks like this will appear where a new branch is at the very first stage of growth. Usually they are single marks spaced out, or in some cases 2 almost right next to each other. In your picture it looks like the marks are only in one spot and not in an area where new growth would occur.

Check for eggs around the base of the coral, do this at night with a powerful flashlight. You could also pull out that coral and dip it.

How do your other acros look?

Yeah ill post more pics up later today. I find it weird tho because these marks come and go!

Ill also look for eggs tonight wish a flashlight!

Another question how fast do these red bugs progress; i mean, can they completely take overa coral in 1 day? or is it over weeks/months?

turkey baste a few....if you have them you will know after that.

Hope not! fwiw.....they haven't touched my BN, poccis, or sky blue stag ever.
