The first picture does have some characteristics of AEFW bite marks, particularly those round marks towards the bottom and on the right. It's hard to say because usually with AEFW you will see the large marks like you have, as well as less severe ones scatter between them. The problem is I don't see any of those, just the big ones.
Sometimes marks like these can be confused with new growth. Small white marks like this will appear where a new branch is at the very first stage of growth. Usually they are single marks spaced out, or in some cases 2 almost right next to each other. In your picture it looks like the marks are only in one spot and not in an area where new growth would occur.
Check for eggs around the base of the coral, do this at night with a powerful flashlight. You could also pull out that coral and dip it.
