shawn or anyone else
i was just spreard by a longspine black seaurchin,i dont think i was stung,as i only felt the pain.
the skin was penetrated as there was blood,so i squueazed more blood,i then put my hand under running hot water till i could not take it anymore.
then washed my hands under dish soap.then poured rubbing alcohol on the wound, its not bleeding but throbbing,i do blieve the stingers are not the spines.
i have done this procedure for anenome stings, but not sure of sea urchin
thanks
vic
I almost lost my hand and arm from a longspine sea urchin sting.
Bottom line---make sure you have a up to date tetanus shot. I didn't
Here is a set of pictures taken over 12 hours after I was jabbed by a large sea urchin:

Thanks very much mrfish, there's still a long road to go but with a small light at the end .....or is it the next turn!!!!Congratulations on the set-up, the stuff dreams are made of, great to see documented builds like this step by step, never would have considered a Mars system for quarantine, makes sense given the size of your system, looking forward to watching this come to life
I have been a long time lurker. With that being said, I wanted to state my thanks for all that this thread has been and will continue to be to this great community. Thank you for the informational transfer which you all have given to those less knowledgeable. Happy Reefing!
About a zillion pages ago there was some discussion about Mr Wilson's book. As a complete noob, I've really appreciated his clear and informative comments, so I did a cut-and-paste on (most) of his posts on this thread. It runs to 64 pages - not quite a first draft manuscript, but maybe halfway there. I tried to offer him a copy via PM in the hope it would encourage him to finish the draft, but apparently he's better as keeping his tanks clean and tidy than his inbox, which is full.
I know even less about publishing than I do about reef tanks, but you might want to think about this as a business modeL: http://www.howtobrew.com/ It's a complete guide to home brewing on a free advertiser supported site, supplemented by hard-cover sales to luddites who think this internet fad is never going to last.
