I noticed the Very VERY tiny fish girl comment....

I think you forgot an "s" on the end of the fish Girl...Shouldn't it have been Fish girls.......???? I mean this IS best practice!!!!

Yes but I have had a slight change in strategy. I figure the first to pass the ladder test should have some say in the trainees that follow. I figure if I introduce them slowly I won't upset the balance of nature.

Everything, fish, corals and any additional rock spend at least 6 to eight weeks in the Wilson Bars. If we spot any problems we will move the fish/coral to the hospital tank for intensive care. I do not plan to try and cure any disease in the main display tank....the offending subject will be removed if possible or nature will run its course. I haven't decided on prophylactic measures yet and I do not plan to address the subject until I am ready with a tank that is in full production status first. It is a very controversial subject and I do not want the distraction at this stage. The life in the tank so far is meant to assist in verifying that the ecosystem is healthy and stable. It does not necessarily represent the stocking agenda when the tank is deemed ready for populating.

You are right.....for the record I am using two canon DSLR's 5D II and 50D. I might add that I still have a ton of learning to do when it comes to photographing fish. Coral is somewhat easier as it doesn't move around all that much........

I find that those great shots are being in the right place at the right time with a mountain of experience and preparation. I still have a looong way to go yet.

Cirrhilabrus filamentosus ♂. They are identified by their flash colouration. Do a Google Image search on the latin name and you'll see several colour morphs on this fish.

I have a suspicion that no matter how you QT them they are not going to be well received at the house......

Once you have one of these females already they have a tendency to not allow another female mate....just good husbandry.....unfortunately...oh well.

But what if you introduce something now? Even if these fish or coral are not staying they could still introduce something to the tank and everything could suffer from here on out unless treated. Being that you are trying to come up with best practices shouldn't we be deciding on the best QT practices as well?
And to Chago09 - I only observe fish for 2-3 months unless i spot something but i do feed medicated food in case there are any internal parasites or problems that i'm not seeing from there feeding behavior or from observation. But corals i dip in Revive, Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure and do 3 doses of Interecepter. I do this to all species of coral just in case. I would rather loose a few corals in treatment then lose a whole tank.

Thank you MSR, yes I am very excited. I've been beating my brains over Peters RODI system so much that my wife has even starting yelling at me. She says stop playing with your "fish stuff" I try to explain to her that as of this week, now its considered work. :bounce2:

I am just going over some design plans with Peter. Next week I will post the build plan and maybe some pictures of the build.
 
My nearest guess so far is Dusky Fusegoby - Fusigobius neophytus - at least, until I can find my other fish books.

on a side note you will find this funny.
when i got home and took a look in my tank i saw that the kenya tree had dropped yet another frag and it has attached itself to one of my snails :lolspin:
