This may be a silly question, but why 6 people on the four masters shirt?
Not a silly question. At the time of the original design it was intended to represent the full team: Peter, Shawn, The Brothers Grimm and the Brothers Shimoda.

Where can I buy the coles notes on this thread? Wow...I havent checked it out in a while and it has gotten too large to catch up.

Hey Peter, I hit Mr. Wilson up for your typical orp number but I think it got missed. I am trying to get a handle on what most bigger tank guys are holding their number at. Despite having about 500 gal or so in volume my number seems to jump around more than I thought it would before I started monitoring it. I was wondering if that was normal or if I have some sort of hidden issue

I remember your question. I figured mr. Wilson would answer and I will ask him to. I don't know the answer or I would give it up to you now. Things have been hectic here with the lights and the new sump so I apologize for the delay.

I keep hearing about this sump......:spin3:.... But still haven't seen anything :hammer: :bounce3:

Congratulations to the First inducted Grand Master

Greetings all,

Mr. Wilson, you have mentioned the Sunlight Supply VHO T-5s several times, and said you would be getting some for testing. have you had a chance to try them? are they planning on producing lamps with higher than 6500k? thank you for all the information you share.

Congratulations to you and the team on a milestone for your build. Chingchai, you continue to inspire us all.

May all of you have a great New Year.

Mark

Few things.... Dave welcome, now your the rookie and will go through the same initiation I went through. Drink a litre of skim from robbie. Your allowed to eat chaeto with it if the taste is to horrid.

Peter yes tshirt 2.0... I will stand in the middle to really screw up the design LOL Dave will have trouble showing off the tank behind me LOL

Ching Chai, congrats. Peter has nothing but good things to say about your tank and it really truly was his inspiration, and is for a lot of us reefers. I had and am having a awesome time being a part of Peters build as much as I can. Its an honour to say I worked on the tank that represents some of the greatest tanks literally on the planet. I would hope you will make a trip one day to this cold tundra and see Peters tank first hand. Come in January, thats when the weather is the nicest  very similar to the Thai climate

I'm not too sure about that. I saw the tank in person long before you did, have pestered Mr.Wilson far more than anyone else on this board, and have filled Peter's thread up with too much nonsense and off-topic rubbish.

I will have to see you in profile to figure out how to fit you in. I'm afraid that once I add my own anorexia-defeating cameo there won't be much room for anything else. :o

For now, let's leave the floor open for ChingChai, as he surely deserves the respect of this forum.

The pics start making sense around pg 189. Peter is working on a blog to post a summary and more pics.

Stop by and visit some time Daryl.

We haven't used the controller yet, but I did calibrate all of the probes. In general, ozone is turned on at 350mv and shut off at 400mv.

ORP is a nice magic number, but it can be misleading. A high number can exist in adverse conditions and a low value can occur in a successful tank. Having said that, it is still a good indicator of overall health, or at least changes in the environment.

I haven't had much time for the thread over the holidays so I will check the ORP just for you tomorrow :)

I checked the PAR again today and discovered that the lights using magnetic ballasts are almost twice as high (350 vs. 200). This is true of the Phoenix and Aqualine bulbs. The Aqualine are twice as high in PAR as the Phoenix with either ballast.

We received the new pump for the Skimz skimmer, and it is performing moderately well. I shut off the auto-washdown on the RK2 to compare the $4,000.00 skimmer to the $400.00 one. I will let you know which appears to do a better job.

The plan is to replace the bubble generator (venturi) pump on the RK2 with a Blueline 100. I think we have a good idea of a performance baseline by now. It can only get netter from here.
