Coralife BioCube 29g Build

Your tank is looking great already man. Make sure to feed lots of varied food if you want all that crazy life to stick around in the rocks and sand, mate. 😉

Is the purple and orange on this rock some type of brain coral?

Could be sponge too, kind of hard to tell. Post it up in the newbie section(ID of critters that come on your rocks, I think is the name of the thread?), someone there will most certainly ID it.

RODI is finally installed. Needed a couple things before I was able to get it setup. My washing machine hoses had an easy grip adapter on the ends, and this meant that I couldn't tighten the seal all the way. So when it seemed tight and I turned on the water it started spraying everywhere! LOL

So I had to replace the hose to work with my splitter, and at that point it makes sense to replace both.

Then I wanted to route the tubes neatly and make the mount points able to remove the tubes at any time if I need to. So I grabbed some 1/2" ratcheting cable management loops with adhesive backing.

Here it is mounted on the wall. I used a piece of 1" x 12" pine board to make sure I had strong anchoring across three studs since the spacing on the RODI brackets don't span the distance between studs. The RODI is also removable from the mounting screws, and we are reprinting the house gray, so we can pull the RODI down and paint easily.

However, the down side is that my water pressure is crap at 30-32psi. So I'll need to get a booster pump soon. It took 1:40:00 to make ~3.5 gallons of water.

Guess I'm lucky then, my incoming pressure is 78psi. I make 5 gallons in an hour and half, on a 50gpd unit. I did the same thing with the ro unit split off the cold line for the washing machine. Works great, and my waste water line is in the pipe for the washer waste line.

Maybe I just need to get a whole house booster pump. I know my wife would be happier. ;)

Not that it matters for me on my BioCube now that I won an Apex Gold system, but they just released a firmware upgrade that enables the Apex Jr. to expand to 7 modules besides the display, instead of the old 4 module limit! This is cool since 4 modules is pretty limiting, but the price point as an entry device is good (~$250).

I am moving my Jr to my freshwater tank and it's good to know that I can upgrade it down the road if I want to.
