Coralife Mini AquaLight Burning!

I have a mini Aqualight made by Coralife. It has two 9w compact fluorescents lamps. Its sitting on eggcrate on top of my fuge. The thing is burning hot. Is this normal or do I have a defective one?

It depends on what exactly your definition of burning hot is but, yes, it's quite normal for these things to get quite warm (much warmer than seems reasonable). I've got at least 3 of them being used for lighting vivariums and a 'fuge. Not real happy with them but I guess they do the job.

Yep.. totally normal. When I had mine it was over eggcrate and got so hot i could not hold my hand on it.

I once had a coralife PC catch on fire the actual bulb itself. Becareful with that coralife stuff.

I have one over my 2g. It does get rather hot later on in the day.
