Coralife Salt group buy

Club information and group buys on the MTRC site. Just keeping to a single place to keep track that doesn't fall of the front page and that we can sticky and archive.

Ah. So the actual answer to my question is "No Zach, we will not be posting anything to do with group buys on the RC site." Appreciate the heads up, I'll just buy whatever salt is at the Critter, if I have to go searching two sites I'll just buy directly. Thanks.

Your call Zach. Particpate or not at your discretion..It is open for all club members and we are keeping track in one place, our website.

More the merrier towards group buys isn't it? I don't see why you can't post in two places. Should have kept my dues yesterday and put that towards some salt if that's the new "policy".

If that is your wish I am sure Jason can accomodate you. Drop him a PM. I think it silly, but thats just my opinion as you have yours sir.

Zach just tell us what you expect from us then. The info is out there, it may not exactly where you want it to be but its available. I left a explaination in the other thread you stated your unhappiness in why info will be on the club website.

As a goodby comment I can tell you what the Issue Is, Nobody likes the site and there Is never anybody on It when ever I try It I'm the only person logged on. There Is nothing on It worthwhile RC has much more to offer and that's the truth. Lets see how long It takes B4 I'm attacked for this comment.
Guess I'll go Troll another site with Zach from here on out, I think a line was crossed with personal attacks on people, Sad

I'm gonna have to agree with Bill on this one as well!!! No one is ever on that site and it's just as easy to find what you want here compared to MTRC site. On the other hand, I think I know why it was posted in our own site. We got the site going so we should use it. BUT I do think Zach came on a little strong. We can give advice and the BOD SHOULD listen to what we have to say. It takes ALL of us to make as a group. I'm kinda getting tired of people threatening saying oh I don't want to be a part of MTRC, twice already this past week. IF you don't want to be a part of it, no one is really forcing you to, but WHY are you still patrolling this very forum??? This forum is MADE for MTRC and people who wants to participate in it. Like I've said before, people are acting like a bunch of 2yr old. GROW UP! We should NOT do personal attacks on one another unless you want to act like a 2yo. Get over your differences and rethink to yourself, IF you want to stay in and participate or go else where. That's the downright truth!!!! So let's all MOVE ON!!!! :mixed:

Ok, let's ALL ignore what's above and start over here!!!

I've never used Coralife salt before, I've tried Oceanic and been using IO for a long time now. What is Coralife like compared to IO??? I know IO have low Calcium and Alkaline, how about Coralife?

I have no desire to sugar coat anything, there's no need to. I didn't attack anybody until I was called a troll. +3, the site is unpleasant and to answer Jason's question above, I just wanted to the information posted here. As stated from the start. Maybe buy real forum software such as V-Bulletin and redesign the site so it's not so glaring on the eyes and some things can be transitioned there. But not everything. Group buys are nothing to hide.

See that wasn't so bad! Now it's for the BOD to listen to this very advice. I have to agree with what Zach says, it's a bit hard on the eyes. A little redesign would probably attract more traffic. Like our original site, it was designed well and not so hard on the eyes.

So just to be clear here since most people here don't really know vBulletin from Joomla from html..the biggest issue is the look and feel...and I agree, I am not thrilled with our template and someone with some CSS programming and a little PHP helping out (which has been asked for before) would help this.

The engine we use is the #1 Community system in the world (Joomla) and it is free with an amazing amount of support..we aren't using garbage software..we just have a template that needs to change. The profile info, user controls, and flow are extremely user friendly and a Web 2.0 solution.

The purpose of the club site is not to recreate RC..it is to disseminate MTRC club info and handle club business...not be the defacto chat engine...just handle club business, allow for pictures, sponsors, and a local destination dedicated to our club. We can blog, have a pic gallery, send messages, send eachother full email, mappoint data, showcase our local sponsors, click a member name from the member list and send messages...and allow us to be able to archive and retrieve info..the site is much more than a forum. It allows for meeting information, group buys, club discussions (such as occured here tonight) to be in one spot and not just dissapear into the ether after a few days. I don't know how many times I looked for information on something from 4 or 5 days earlier and is was buried back, etc.

This is why I asked rumble about his experience with PHP and CSS last week....hopefully get some help from him programming a new template, or modifying one we can buy.

vBulleting as a CMS is not so hot imo...it is a monolithic system with limited plugins available for functionality. Plus it's expensive for open source software that we would still need to pay for or fully develop a template to custmized for our club.

I did mention it breifly at the BOD meeting, but it was in passing of future things to address becasue we had so many other things to cover like getting monthly meetings set up, the bank account, paypal, ect...

I am very open to help changing the club's graphics...keep in mind everything that has been done has been at zero cost to the club, and there is huge potential for what it can do. Zach, would you care to volunteer to find a suitable template and help customize it with me?

Very well said by Andy! Keyword: "ZERO cost to our club" Hopefully someone will chime in with some help with that department to modify our site.

and getting back on track here to topic a little more...to answer your question Mikey, Coralife is almost dead even with Oceanic (and owned by the same company although made at different facilities). We had a discussion sparked by Bill a few weeks ago (another useful topic lost to the ether here) That had a link comparing the salts. I looked it over very carefully and determined if I ever switched from Oceanic I would try the Coralife. As we all know Bill Swears by it, and the comparison showed it had a little less PO4, CA, MG, and chlorine than Oceanic, so it intrigued me. Oceanic has done very well for me (albeit I mix my buckets before use to comabt settling of elements). Oceanic at 1.026 mixed a little high in Calc and Mg, so at the club price it is worth checking out to me.

I tired to find a link for you to the discussionwe had but search isn't working here. Maybe someone has the link for the salt comparison?
