I was wondering if the sponge at the end of the output tubing really needed to be .25 inches off of the water. I really just wanted to submerge the whole thing. Thanks
I owned a 65 gallon carallife skimmer on my 55, and was quite pleased with it. ( at the time it was my first) I found that keeping the output above the water level helped with the flow, if you put it to deep the water has to push its way out other than that you just keep as close as possible to reduce bubbles and noise.
I also have the 65, I do have the output submerge. Like purple rocks said just make sure it's not to close to the bottom. I made a couple of baffles in the sump to make sure the water is being skim properly, and eliminating micro bubbles.
