I posted this in my thread in new 2 hobby and it was suggested to me to post this here...so here it goes...

I'm having an issue with coraline algae growing on it. Is this normal for this coral? Is there anyway to stop it? When I try to remove it, he will not open that night. Any suggestions? Here are some pics

Today:
I attempted to pull of some again this morning and with the coraline came some of his tissue. I then took a small, very soft toothbrush and gently rubbed him. Did not work. I also had to pull off some HA, not much though. He hasn't been open in awhile and it seems that since he stopped, the coraline started to grow. I do know that they sometimes take "breaks" from opening. But now I'm wondering if he isn't opening due to the coraline issue. I've done my usually teasing him with NutraMar Ova (he loves this) but it did not work. He is not showing any decay, so that is good.
BTW...I have had this cactus for more that 2.5 years. He has always been in this spot. He even survived a devastating crash (lost about 95% of tank) 7 months ago. He was 1/2 his size when I first got him, and has been thriving. I have not had this issue with him before.
Also...my water params are all good. 0 trites, trates, ammonia, phos. 9 hardness, 8.2pH Ca..440 and salinity is at 1.025
Thanks for your help! Its very much appreciated!
